China, Belarus to stage 'Swift Eagle 2026' airborne drills in Hubei

BEIJING, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Belarusian airborne troops are set to conduct the "Swift Eagle 2026" joint training in central China's Hubei Province in mid-to-late August, a Chinese defense spokesperson said Friday.

Chen Xi, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, said the drills will center on subjects including surveillance and counter-surveillance, seizure-and-control and protection, elimination and defense.

This marks the fourth iteration of the joint exercise, which Chen said will further sharpen the participating troops' combat capabilities and deepen substantive cooperation between the two militaries.
