China-Singapore joint army training kicks off

SINGAPORE, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The bilateral training exercise between the Chinese and Singaporean militaries kicked off here on Wednesday, focusing on urban counter-terrorism operations.

The Chinese commander for the joint training said that the joint exercise is of great significance in deepening military exchanges and cooperation between the two forces, as well as in further strengthening their traditional friendship.

The Singaporean counterpart said that the exercise enables both sides to acquire practical skills through interaction and exchange, and expressed appreciation for the close and warm cooperative ties between the two countries.

The exercise will continue until Dec. 18.
