Japan's egregious words, deeds trigger vigilance, dissatisfaction, protests from neighboring countries: China FM

BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Japan's recent series of egregious comments and actions have sparked vigilance, dissatisfaction and protests from neighboring countries, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said in Beijing on Monday.

On Nov. 14, the spokesperson of the ministry of foreign affairs of the Republic of Korea issued a statement protesting the Japanese government's extension of a museum in Tokyo that showcases Japan's unjust territorial claims over the Dokdo islets.

In response, Mao told a regular press briefing that China has noticed relevant reports regarding this matter.

"We urge Japan to deeply reflect on its history of aggression, adhere to the path of peaceful development, and earn the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community through real actions," Mao said.
