China has provided humanitarian aid to the Philippines: FM spokesperson

BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- China has provided assistance in cash and emergency supplies to the Philippines, and hopes those affected by recent typhoons will rebuild their homes soon, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

The Philippines has recently been hit by several typhoons, causing huge casualties and loss of property.

"We mourn for the lives lost and extend sympathies to the families whose loved ones died or went missing in the typhoons," foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian told a daily press briefing.

He said some Chinese provinces are also extending a helping hand to the Philippines through channels between sister provinces.

"We wish those affected will recover from the disaster and rebuild their homes at an early date," he added.
