MINSK, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition was held in the Belarusian capital here on Monday, marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
The exhibition, featuring 36 photographs, captured Xizang's historic journey from abolishing feudal serfdom to achieving all-around progress in economic growth, social development, cultural vitality and environmental protection under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.
More than 300 guests from the Belarusian political, military, academic and media circles attended the event, which was held alongside a reception at the Chinese Embassy in Belarus celebrating the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
At the event, Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said the establishment of the Xizang Autonomous Region in September 1965 was a milestone in the history of Xizang's development, consolidating the gains of peaceful liberation and democratic reform and marking a historic leap in the region's social system.
Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov, who also toured the exhibition, noted China's great achievements in poverty eradication, which have ensured a better life for hundreds of millions of people.
The accomplishment reflected both the power of China's strategic leadership and the diligence and wisdom of the Chinese people, he said.
The exhibition was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, the Minsk Bureau of Xinhua News Agency and the China Image Group, with the aim of presenting a true picture of Xizang's development to the international community.
