Croatia's foreign minister urged sustained dialogue and deepened EU-China cooperation Tuesday, saying there was "huge potential" for economic ties between the European Union and the world's second largest economy.
Speaking at a Beijing dialogue event, Gordan Grlić Radman said Croatia-China ties were excellent — and they could be even stronger, while calling for more Chinese investment in Croatia and greater opportunities for Croatian businesses in China.
The minister expressed hopes for increased collaboration on climate change, education and tourism.
"This year marks the 50th anniversary of EU-China diplomatic ties. China is the second largest economy in the world and the EU's second largest trading partner. There is huge potential for economic cooperation between the EU and China," Radman said, underscoring the importance of balanced, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial relations.
The Croatian minister said the EU and China have shared interests in maintaining constructive ties. He added that cooperation is essential for addressing challenges like climate change, food security, public health and humanitarian aid.
"Let us work together to build a future defined by cooperation, mutual respect, and shared prosperity for all nations," Radman said.

Wang Huiyao, president of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), echoed the necessity of increased dialogue between China and EU countries. "China and Croatia share significant historical and geographical connections, and their collaboration should continue and expand in the future," he said.
Wang highlighted the urgent need for China and the EU to work together for global progress and promote greater cooperation in trade, investment and cultural exchanges in the face of rising unilateralism.
Held in Beijing under the theme "Croatia as a Mediterranean and Central European Connection Between the EU and Asia: Perspectives for Cooperation with China," the event gathered government officials, policy experts, and journalists from China, Croatia, and other countries.
