China hopes Thailand, Cambodia to properly solve dispute through dialogue: FM spokesperson

BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- China is deeply concerned about the ongoing border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, and hopes that the two countries will properly solve their dispute through dialogue and consultation, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.

Noting that Thailand and Cambodia are both friendly neighbors of China and important members of ASEAN, Guo said good-neighborliness and proper handling of differences are in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides.

Bearing in mind the common interest and concerns of regional countries, China adopts a fair and impartial stance, continues to promote talks for peace through its own way, and plays a constructive role in helping de-escalate the situation, Guo said.
