Sino-Australia Innovation Forum held in Sydney

CANBERRA, July 12 (Xinhua) -- The inaugural Sino-Australia Innovation Forum, recently held in Sydney, aims to enhance scientific research collaboration and the commercialization of innovation between the two countries, the Chinese embassy in Australia said on Friday.

According to the embassy, the forum held Wednesday was co-hosted by China's National Innovation Center par Excellence in the Yangtze River Delta (NICE-YD) and Australia's University of New South Wales (UNSW).

Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian sent a congratulatory letter to the forum, expressing hope for deeper cooperation in science and technology innovation.

Xiao called for expanded collaboration in green and low-carbon development, health, digital economy, and artificial intelligence, emphasizing the role of the forum as a platform to foster new growth areas in bilateral cooperation.

Liu Qing, director of NICE-YD, highlighted the center's efforts in international research commercialization, while representatives from leading Australian universities shared progress on commercializing research in key areas of bilateral cooperation.

The Sino-Australia Innovation Forum is the first major recent event dedicated to science, technology, and industrial innovation between the two countries, linking research, industry, and markets by offering a platform for policy dialogue, project showcases, personnel exchanges, and industrial collaboration, organizers said.

The forum aims to integrate both countries' innovation ecosystems by leveraging their complementary strengths, boosting industry-academia collaboration, and accelerating research commercialization for mutually beneficial cooperation, they said.
