China opposes building exclusive military alliances: defense minister
SINGAPORE, June 2 (Xinhua) -- China calls for inclusiveness for peace and opposes building exclusive military alliances, Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun said here on Sunday.
Dong, in an address delivered at the 21st Shangri-La Dialogue held in Singapore, said various "small circles" targetting other countries can not make the region safer and can only cause more tension.
He said the Chinese military will take a more open approach and work with the militaries in countries of the region to build a new type of security partnership featuring equality, mutual trust and win-win cooperation.
