Chinese, Vietnamese coast guards hold talks on cooperation

GUANGZHOU, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The China Coast Guard and the Vietnam Coast Guard met from Monday to Friday in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, for the seventh high-level work meeting between the coast guards.

Speaking highly of the cooperation results in 2023, the two sides discussed the direction for future cooperation between the coast guards and major cooperation programs. They also exchanged views on topics of common concern.

They agreed that the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam should be further consolidated, and pledged to deepen pragmatic maritime cooperation, handle maritime emergencies properly, and jointly safeguard maritime peace and stability.

A Vietnamese Coast Guard vessel also visited Guangzhou from Dec. 4 to 8 and was greeted with various activities.
