LHASA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, on Thursday proposed that the trans-Himalaya region should deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, accelerate green transformation and strengthen connectivity.

Wang made the proposals when addressing the opening ceremony of the third China Xizang Trans-Himalaya Forum for International Cooperation in the city of Nyingchi, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Noting that countries around the Himalayas are geographically connected, have similar cultures and share a common destiny, Wang also proposed that the region adhere to mutual respect and trust, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning.

Foreign guests attending the forum spoke highly of Tibet's major achievements in ecological civilization and economic and social development, and appreciated the important role played by the forum in strengthening exchanges and cooperation among countries in the trans-Himalaya region for common development and prosperity.

When meeting with foreign guests, Wang said China welcomes friends from all over the world to come to Tibet to witness with their own eyes the great achievements in Tibet's economic and social development, the happy lives of the people of all ethnic groups in Tibet, and the sound inheritance and protection of Tibetan culture.

Wang said facts will prove that the Tibet-related lies concocted by some Western forces out of ideological bias are completely untenable and will fall flat in the face of facts.

The foreign guests expressed their expectation to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China, jointly cope with climate change and other challenges, protect the ecological environment and achieve sustainable development.

The forum is scheduled to run from Oct. 4 to 6. Representatives from more than 40 countries, regions and international organizations attended the forum.
