The 20th National Congress of the Communist Part of China, which convened in Beijing on October 16, is setting the country's trajectory for the coming five to 10 years as the Party pursues its 2035 goals. The significance of this congress is not only for People's Republic of China but to the whole world.
The congress has mirrored the desire of China's leadership to improve people's well-being, which reminds the world that a true leadership benches on the service of people and shared future.
Xi Jinping believes that true governmental leadership should mean a whole-process people's democracy, which refers to the principle that all power of the state belongs to the people. "People's democracy is the lifeblood of socialism and it is integral to our efforts to build the modern socialist in all respects," Xi said.
Leadership, according to Xi Jinping, is striving to realize, safeguard and advance the fundamental interests of all the people. Leaders should do at all their capacity the most practical problems most directly concerning the people.
Over the past 40 years, China has witnessed an unprecedented economic growth, with its per capital GDP surging from less than $500 in 1994 to $12,551 in 2021. This development trend offers evidence that China's leadership recognizes the requirement of a model of development that focuses on the emancipation of the people's quality of life, through policies and strategies, which can result into economic growth.
Through the revitalization of people-centered development approach, China leads us to the profound realization that development must be an indigenous process. Development has to envisage a perspective in which people are living in a specific social, cultural, economic and an ecological setting by defining their own concept of development.
The people-centered approach is an important guidance through which leading would mean enhancing sustainable development and common prosperity. "China's government takes people's level of satisfaction as a measurement of the outcome of extreme poverty eradication and makes concentrated efforts to solve the basic livelihoods requirement of the poor," Xi said at the National Poverty Alleviation Summary and Commendation Conference in February 2021.
Xi Jinping believes that a mission of a leader is to meet the people's desire for a happy life. The people-centered approach, hence is a path toward China's high quality growth and building a community with a shared future through win-win cooperation.
According to the Chinese leader, the people-centered approach to development is a central stage where China's economy is facilitating an open, inclusive, and beautiful world that promotes lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity.
Through a people-centered approach to leadership and development, Xi teaches leaders in different parts of the world that serving the people should stand as the cornerstone of leadership. The people are the sole driving force that make history and create a better world. True leadership is that which endlessly considers people and their environment at the center focal point.
President Xi's approach to development is a high-level wisdom to the sustenance and quality development of the universe. The people-centered approach of development will make our world a better place and a community with a shared future of mankind.
