BRICS nations play powerful role in global growth: Turkish expert

ISTANBUL, June 15 (Xinhua) -- A prominent Turkish scholar says the BRICS nations play a powerful role in global growth and poverty eradication, among others.

Colakoglu speaks highly of the "BRICS Plus" cooperation model, which is a platform for emerging markets and developing countries and is built for cooperation and development.

Colakoglu thinks that it will help humankind handle crises and disasters with coordinated efforts.

The BRICS countries represent around 42 percent of the world population and one fifth of the global GDP.
