BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Wang Chen, vice chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Ana Maria Mary Machado, vice president of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), via video link on Friday.
Speaking from Beijing, Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called China and Cuba good friends, comrades, and brothers.
China's NPC stands ready to work with the ANPP to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and give full play to the active role of the legislature, Wang said.
Wang added that China's NPC is willing to work with the ANPP to make unremitting efforts to deepen the friendship between the two countries, advance the implementation of the Global Security Initiative and oppose hegemonism; and to expand cooperation in various fields, strengthen democracy and the rule of law, and open up new horizons of socialism.
Machado thanked China for its firm support for the just cause of Cuba. Machado said that Cuba firmly pursues the one-China policy and opposes all acts that interfere in China's internal affairs.
The ANPP is ready to deepen exchanges with China's NPC and make new contributions to enhancing the traditional friendship, Machado said.
