ISTANBUL, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese tech giant Huawei launched Friday a training program for Turkish students in the field of information communication technologies (ICT).

Dubbed "Seeds for the Future," the program held an online opening ceremony at the participation of 600 trainees, with fifty of which are university students mainly from the Electronics and Computer Sciences departments. Huawei Turkey also accepted 20 high school students as guest participants.

The trainees will attend intense courses and workshops on 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud systems, the Internet of things, as well as leadership, culture, and communication.

Upon completing their training, trainees will be granted worldwide valid Huawei certificates.

Speaking at the ceremony, Li Jing, general manager of Huawei Turkey, highlighted that connectivity and computing technologies will deeply change the world.

"Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic unexpectedly shocked the world, but it also strongly proved again how important ICT technologies are in our life," he said.

Speaking via video message, Omer Fatih Sayan, Turkey's deputy minister of Transport and Infrastructure, said that he was pleased to see Turkish students joining such a globally important program to boost their skills.

Omer Abdullah Karagozoglu, chairman of Turkey's Information and Communication Technologies Authority, said that the program builds a bridge between cultures in the international arena.

"While the participants will develop their knowledge and skills, they will contribute to the further increase of long-term cooperation between Turkey and China," Karagozoglu stressed.

Turkish Ambassador to China Abdulkadir Emin Onen said relations between Turkey and China have been developing with concrete projects in every field, and cooperation on science and technology will be more crucial in the future.

Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Liu Shaobin noted that communication technologies have come to the forefront in strengthening the economic relations of the two countries and raising the living standards of the two peoples.

Launched in 2008, "Seeds for the Future" is Huawei's flagship global program to develop local ICT talents all over the world.

Turkish young talents have been participating in the program since 2015.
