China firmly supports Russia's fight against COVID-19

BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- China firmly supports Russia's efforts in fighting against COVID-19 and believes the Russian people will surely win the battle against the virus, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Friday.

Zhao Lijian made the remarks when answering a question at a news briefing on some Western media reports that Russia had falsified its COVID-19 death rate.

He said China firmly supports Russia's fight against the epidemic and believes, under the strong leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian people will surely win the battle against COVID-19.

China has always believed solidarity and cooperation are the most powerful weapons to combat the virus, he said, adding that the international community should cooperate and tide over the difficulties together instead of resorting to mutual accusations and shifting blame to others.
