GUANGZHOU, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Belt and Road International Lawyers Association was launched by the All China Lawyers Association (ACLA) on Sunday in Guangzhou, capital of southern China's Guangdong Province.
The association aims at building a platform that will promote exchanges and collaboration between the members, as well as provide better legal services to support Belt and Road construction.
With 85 founding members from 36 countries and regions, it is the first international lawyer association registered in China, a nongovernmental and nonprofit professional body for bar associations, law firms and lawyers.
Wang Junfeng, head of the ACLA, was elected president of the new association which has set up its headquarters and secretariat in Beijing. The official working languages are Chinese and English.
According to Wang, the association will give priority to membership development, the building of a normalized legal service network and cooperating with its international counterparts.
