Xi expects China-Poland practical cooperation to reach new height

BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday met with Polish President Andrzej Duda, calling on both sides to tap the potential in fields such as trade and investment, transportation and logistics, as well as high and new technologies to lift bilateral practical cooperation to a new height.

Duda attended Friday's opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

Xi said the two sides should respect and accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns, step up communication on major international issues, firmly uphold the international system and basic norms governing international relations, and safeguard the common interests of all members of the international community.

Xi said China is ready to take an active part in the logistics hub construction of Poland and help Poland become a key node in the China-Europe supply and industrial chains.

China will continue to import more Polish agricultural and food products and other high-quality goods and encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in Poland, Xi said, adding that he believes Poland will provide a fair, just and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises.

Xi said China stands ready to work with Poland to establish a China-Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) wholesale market for agricultural products in Poland and make it a flagship project of China-CEEC cooperation at an early date.

Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of China-CEEC cooperation, Xi said the two sides should actively implement the consensus reached at the Summit of China and CEEC last February.

Duda thanked China for providing medical supplies to Poland in its fight against COVID-19.

The Polish president expressed the hope to expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation with China and bring more Polish agricultural products into the Chinese market.
