BEIJING, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Political parties, social organizations and think tanks from a number of countries around the world have reiterated that democracy is the right of all peoples rather than an exclusive privilege of a few.

Following contact with the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, over 100 political parties, social organizations and think tanks in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and other regions have reposted or reported the full text of the Joint Statement of World Political Parties, Social Organizations and Think Tanks on Making Independent Efforts to Explore the Path toward Democracy and Working Together to Promote Common Development.

The text has appeared in the mainstream media of their countries, affiliated party newspapers and periodicals, official websites and social media platforms.

They reaffirmed that there does not exist any system of democracy or pattern of development that is applicable to all countries, calling for efforts to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind under the guidance of the shared human values.

Major foreign media outlets including Lao's national news agency Lao News Agency KPL, Pakistan's DiploMag Magazine, Tanzania's The Guardian newspaper, Namibia's New Era newspaper, Nigeria's Daybreak newspaper and Botswana's Daily News newspaper forwarded or reported the joint statement at the earliest possible time, saying that diversity is what defines the fascinating feature of human civilizations, and indeed the source of vitality and dynamism for the development of the world.

The practice of judging the rich variety of political systems around the world by a single yardstick, or observing the colorful political civilizations of humanity from a monochromatic sight, is in itself undemocratic, said these media.

The Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Turkey's Patriotic Party, among others, published the statement in full on the front page of their party newspapers and periodicals. Parties such as the Cambodian People's Party, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Romanian Socialist Party, and Italian Communist Party, have posted the full text of the joint statement or opinion pieces prominently on their official websites, saying that the promotion of democracy should focus on the continuous realization of people's aspiration for a better life and the upliftment of their sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security.

All countries and nationalities of the world deserve the opportunity and right to development, they added, noting that efforts should be made to promote inclusive development, and ensure that no country is left behind.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, Mongolian Civil Will-Green Party, Kenya's ruling Jubilee Party, the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, among others, reposted the statement, related media reports and commentaries in their official social media platforms, saying that as mankind is faced with various challenges and global issues, an effective response can only be found in more inclusive global governance, more effective multilateral mechanisms and more proactive regional cooperation.

In addition, Nhek Bun Chhay, president of Cambodia's Khmer National United Party, Maite Mola, first vice-president of the Party of the European Left, former president of the Polish Socialist Party, Natee Taweesrifuengfung, president of the Thailand-based Siam Think Tank and Marwan Sudah, president of International Union of Arab Journalists and Writers, Friends and Allies of China, issued the statement on their personal social media accounts or relevant websites, stressing that making international relations more democratic is the trend of the times and the only way to realize this lies in putting true multilateralism into practice.

When attending activities organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the Hungarian Workers' Party Gyula Thurmer, Assistant Secretary of Yemen's Nasserist Unionist People's Organization Rana Ghanem, and Secretary of International Department of Workers' Party of Bangladesh Ali Ahmed Enamul Haque Emran, among others, said that they highly agree with the important idea of the whole-process people's democracy put forward by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping.

They said that China's whole-process people's democracy is a real people-oriented democracy, which is embodied in every aspect including democratic consultation, democratic decision-making, democratic management and democratic supervision.

China's democracy has practically provided a better life for its people, and won the wholehearted support of the people, they said.

Mushahid Hussain Syed, chairman of Pakistani Senate's Defense Committee and chairman of Islamabad-based think-tank Pakistan China Institute, and Sibongile Sibanda, secretary for external affairs of Zimbabwe's ZANU-PF Youth League, among others, have said on multiple occasions that democracy is not like Coca-Cola, a drink that promises the same taste everywhere in the world.

Moreover, they said countries should not create divisions and confrontation in the name of democracy, disrupt the process of globalization, and obstruct the efforts from all countries to deal with the common challenges of humanity including the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.
