BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese military will continue to actively participate in cooperation under the defense and security cooperation mechanisms related to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Ministry of National Defense said Thursday.
China has always firmly supported ASEAN-centered regional defense and security mechanisms and actively participated in the cooperation under the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM)-Plus, said Wu Qian, a spokesperson for the ministry.
China co-organized a video conference on mine clearance with Cambodia and joined in a military symposium on COVID-19 control, both of which took place in September, Wu said.
Noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of China-ASEAN dialogue relations, the spokesperson said new historic opportunities have arisen for cooperation.
China's military will continue its active cooperation with the ASEAN to contribute more to regional peace and stability, said the spokesperson.
