Xi's special envoy attends Argentine presidential inauguration

BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy Arken Imirbaki attended the inauguration ceremony of Argentine President Alberto Fernandez here on Tuesday.

Arken Imirbaki, vice chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, met with Fernandez before the ceremony on Monday.

Imirbaki conveyed Xi's sincere congratulations and good wishes to Fernandez and delivered him a letter signed by Xi.

Imirbaki said that China has always developed relations with Argentina from a strategic height and with a long-term perspective in mind.

China is willing to work with Argentina to strengthen all-round exchanges, promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, deepen multilateral strategic coordination, and push forward in-depth development of the China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, he said.

For his part, Fernandez thanked Xi for sending a special envoy to attend his inauguration and asked Imirbaki to convey his sincere regards to Xi.

Fernandez said that he was very happy after reading the letter from Xi. The new Argentine government attaches great importance to relations with China and is full of confidence and expectation for future bilateral cooperation, he said.

Argentina is willing to work with China to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and lift bilateral relations to new heights, he added.

Imirbaki also met with new Argentine Vice President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and former President Mauricio Macri.
